RentIt is strictly a technology platform and communication venue to connect users. RentIt does not own, operate, lease, inspect, or manage any vehicles. It is always and solely between peer and peer (host and renter) to agree upon terms and make a deal. RentIt is not responsible for any aspect of the peer-to-peer arrangement, including payments, deposits, vehicle condition, mechanical safety, traffic fines, road accidents, delays, property damage, loss, or theft.
1. The RentIt Platform (Technology Venue Only)
RentIt is a community-driven technology platform that enables individual vehicle owners ("Hosts") to discover and connect with verified community members ("Renters") seeking temporary two-wheeler mobility. RentIt charges a 0% platform commission and is not a rental agency, transport provider, fleet operator, or middleman.
All rental terms, vehicle condition assessments, fuel arrangements, prices, security deposits, and handover times are negotiated, determined, and finalized strictly and directly between peer and peer. RentIt provides only the digital discovery, direct peer messaging, and community connection venue.
2. User Eligibility & Verification
- Community Verification: Access to community-restricted vehicle fleets requires verification via institutional email (e.g.
@itbhu.ac.in) or Level 2 community-based proof approved by administrators. - Driving License: Renters must hold a valid, active driving license recognized under the Motor Vehicles Act to operate any motorized two-wheeler.
- Phone Verification: All hosts and renters must verify their mobile phone number prior to posting vehicles or initiating contacts.
3. Host Responsibilities
- Ensure the vehicle is roadworthy, mechanically sound, and possesses valid registration, insurance, and pollution clearance.
- Provide ISI-marked helmet(s) as indicated in the vehicle listing specifications.
- Accurately declare refundable security deposits and inspect the vehicle with the renter prior to confirming handover.
4. Renter Responsibilities
- Wear an approved helmet at all times, adhere to campus and public traffic speed limits (40 km/h on campus), and operate the vehicle soberly and legally.
- Return the vehicle at the agreed time, location, and fuel level without unauthorized third-party handoffs.
- Immediately notify the host of any mechanical issues, minor incidents, or delays.
5. Handover & Exchange Protocol
Vehicle handovers, key transfers, physical condition inspections, and returns are coordinated directly between host and renter at mutually agreed campus or neighborhood meetup locations. RentIt does not track general user or vehicle GPS locations. Optional live GPS handover coordination is a restricted operational tool accessible solely to specialized personnel or authorized individuals granted explicit access by platform administrators. Standard users coordinate their exchanges directly via in-app chat.
6. Complete Limitation of Liability & Disclaimers
RentIt is not responsible for any aspect of peer-to-peer deals or vehicle usage. Because RentIt is solely a technology venue connecting community members:
- RentIt does not inspect, test, certify, guarantee, service, or insure any vehicles listed.
- RentIt is not responsible for any financial exchanges, rental payments, deposit disputes, or refunds.
- RentIt is not liable for traffic violations, challans, reckless driving, road accidents, bodily harm, property damage, mechanical breakdowns, flat tires, or fuel shortages.
- RentIt is not responsible for late returns, vehicle abandonment, loss, or theft.
- Users interact, negotiate, and transact entirely at their own discretion, judgment, and sole risk, and agree to release, indemnify, and hold RentIt, its founders, and administrators harmless from any claims, disputes, or liabilities.
